Cleft palate repair in India is done by many doctors across the country. Dr Fisher is one of the renowned surgeons and is certified in both general and plastic surgery. He is a paediatric plastic surgeon, whose practice focuses on the care of children with cleft lip and palate and microtia. Dr Fisher is the Medical Director of The Hospital for Sick Children’s multidisciplinary Cleft Lip and Palate Program. Along with other members of the division, he also staffs the Northern Cleft Clinics in Thunder Bay, Sudbury, Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie, which is organized through the Bloorview MacMillan Children’s Centre. Dr Fisher is the consultant plastic surgeon for the microtia program at The Hospital for Sick Children. Clinical responsibilities also include general paediatric plastic surgery and burn surgery. Dr Fisher has a diploma in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Toronto. His primary research interest focuses on clinical outcome studies in cleft lip and palate and ear reconstruction.

Dr Fisher is a member of the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, American Board of Surgery, American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons & Operation Smile. He has 15 peer-reviewed publications and is an author of seven book chapters (four published; three written/accepted). He is active in the teaching and training of medical students, residents and fellows.

Visit to GC4:

Dr Fisher with his team of residents from Sick Kids Canada (Toronto )  Visited GC4 (Operation Smile India)  sharing his knowledge and expertise with our team members. Purpose of his visit to GC4 Center was to share his expertise with the GC4 surgeons and to experience the centre setup and its working for cleft palate repair India. He also wanted to see the outreach program carried out for cleft care awareness and patient management by our team members. His technique for Unilateral cleft lip repair is one of the popular technique used worldwide (The fisher technique)www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15988248. He has contributed to the cleft world through his publications.
